-108 In this module students address pension policy and pension reform in the UK, as well as looking at pensions law and tax issues in the content of pension planning for retirement.They examine the role of Government, employers and individuals in saving for retirement in the context of economic and demographic change.The Pre-Emption Group has released a monitoring report looking at implementation of the Statement of Principles, which were updated in 2015 to reflect market changes.
They examine the legal and tax provisions relating to pension contributions, investments and drawing pension benefits across the range of different pension arrangements - both state and private.After considering the findings of this report, the Pre-Emption Group has decided to assist companies by publishing a template resolution outlining good practice in requests for disapplication.This template recommends companies propose two separate resolutions to cover the disapplications envisaged by the Statement of Principles.Statement of Investment Principles Hackney Council’s Statement of Investment Principles can be viewed or downloaded.
London Borough of Hackney Pension Fund adopted the present Statement of Investment Principles in September 2008.
A non-government body that promotes responsible investing at UK pensions funds, has called for scheme members and trustees to be included in a new Investment Governance Group being set up to monitor the updated Myners principles, a voluntary set of guidelines intended to improve oversight of retirement schemes.
